IACS Council 78 Press Release

The IACS Council held its 78th session (C78) in London last week where Cyber Safety, Quality and the Environment featured prominently in discussions. Coming immediately after the 100th session of the IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee, C78 also responded to decisions made at that meeting by agreeing to update its high-level policy paper on Fuel Oil Safety Considerations and immediately initiating next steps with regards to the newly established International Quality Assessment Review Board (IQARB).

IACS SUBMISSIONS TO MSC 100

In demonstrating its ongoing commitment to support the work of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and within its remit as the Organization’s apolitical principal technical advisor; IACS will actively participate in the forthcoming ’landmark’ one hundredth meeting of the IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee (MSC 100), which will meet from 3 to 7 December 2018.

IACS PARTICIPATION AT MEPC 73

In demonstrating its ongoing commitment to support the work of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and within its remit as the Organization’s apolitical principal technical advisor; IACS will actively participate in the forthcoming meeting of the IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 73), which will meet from 22 to 26 October 2018.

12 IACS RECOMMENDATIONS ON CYBER SAFETY MARK STEP CHANGE IN DELIVERY OF CYBER RESILIENT SHIPS

IACS recommendations result from extensive collaboration across industry and provide much needed guidance on how to develop and maintain the cyber integrity of vessels. IACS has today published 9 (nine) of its 12 (twelve) recommendations on cyber safety with the aim of enabling the delivery of cyber resilient ships whose resilience can be maintained throughout their working lives. These eagerly anticipated recommendations are the result of a long-term initiative from IACS that has benefited considerably from cross industry input and support.
